Notion is a versatile productivity tool that functions as more of an open-ended database than just a to-do list app. It offers a large variety of templates as a starting point, but the data and UI are 100% configurable, making Notion more like an app platform than a task manager.
Unlike Notion’s open-ended approach, Todoist offers more constraints around how to manage to-do list items. It encourages users to utilize features like sub-tasks and projects. Many users enjoy this balance of structure and flexibility, though it’s easy for the UI to become cluttered, unactionable, and with no obvious workflow.
Where Notion and Todoist give the user more freedom to customize task lists, Purposeful crafts a specific way to input data. Users input due dates and priority information, and the app intelligently consolidates tasks into a single list. This list clearly identifies which tasks need to be done and when, highlighting the next task to be completed at the top. By making the user do less, they are able to stay on task, without distractions. Within one organized task list, it offers a balanced level of personalization through labels to maintain clarity, encouraging users to make productivity a natural habit.
A serene and uncluttered environment promotes focus and productivity.
The logo of stacked stones represents successes that build on one another, that compound. The order of the stones is predetermined, one less thing to decide and control.
Shades of green illustrate connection with nature, the ultimate teacher and provider. Growth and success are also associated with such colors.

Purposeful allows users to create new tasks, edit tasks, and toggle between upcoming and completed tasks, all from one main screen.
Users are welcomed by a clear, actionable home screen. Tasks are automatically sorted into three sections according to due date and priority level, encouraging users to begin tackling the topmost set of tasks.
Once the user selects the add task button, they are prompted to input task information, whether on a right-sided popover for desktop or a dedicated screen in mobile.
The onboarding screen features a deep green background with grounding zen-inspired custom made illustrations and provides a clear path for the user to add their first task.
Through Figma, I meticulously prototyped the app's user interface, showcasing the app's navigation, task creation, and completion processes. The interactive prototypes below enable users to experience the fluidity and functionality of Purposeful in real-time. Take a look for yourself below!
